I have been with YMCA Cape Cod for the past ten years. I am a personal trainer and fitness instructor teaching boot camp and cycling classes. During my time with the YMCA, I have come to know many of the members. These members have formed what they call “The Village” which they accepted me into. If a member is sick, they are always there with a helping hand. When a member was trying to raise money for a very important scholarship fund, everyone rallied behind her. When another member was raising awareness for the deadly effects of addiction, members joined her (and continue to join her) in a yearly polar plunge. Little did I know The Village would soon be there for me. Ironically, on my parents wedding anniversary on September 7, 2022, I was diagnosed with stage 4 inoperable esophageal cancer. The Village immediately circled the wagons around me. They made meals to help me recover from intense chemo treatments. They drove me to my appointments. They gave me hope and strength that has inspired me to fight like I have never had to fight before.
I am doing this ride to give back to the organization that has brought together such a group of warm, loving people that have given so much to me as well as anyone else that needs help. They are truly a family.
I will be raising funds for the YMCA Cape Cod during the Second Summer Cycle! I'll be riding from Sandwich to Provincetown, and hoping to raise $500 for the Y's good work in our community, including free healthy meal distribution, affordable childcare and camp, and many chronic disease management programs. A Charity Ride across Cape Cod
What:
Be part of the inaugural Second Summer Cycle! This is an exciting new event led
by the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce-- a fully supported, cape wide, charity
ride benefiting 19 nonprofit organizations on Cape Cod. Ride a route of your
choosing: 30, 60+ or 100 miles on beautiful back roads (and the rail trail if you
choose).
100% of the funds raised by riders go directly to the beneficiary of their
choice.
Participate in a celebration at the end of the ride with food, music and
Barnstable Brewing beverages Second Summer Cycle Cans as memorabilia. Enjoy
a special day of riding the Cape landscape while also benefiting tens of thousands
of Cape Codders.

Where:
The Century starts in Mashpee, The Metric Century (60+) in Sandwich and the 30
Mile Plus in Orleans. Safety is a top priority, expect support vehicles and police
presence, along with signage and volunteers along the route. All of the rides end
on the Outer Cape with a celebratory event for riders and volunteers.
The routes are not finalized yet. The permitting process is on going but we are very close.
