Welcome to my fundraising page! I'm very excited to do this 40 mile gravel ride with my team, Shift Happens, to raise money for a cause that we believe in. I hope that you are able to contribute. Addiction hits close to home for both myself and Taylor. For this ride, I will be riding in honor of my teammate Beth, whose brother who passed away July 12th, 2023 from health complications due to a lifetime of addiction.
Our participation in riding, and hopefully through additional fundraising, will be a huge step in fighting the malignancy of addiction. As is well documented, the drug abuse and alcohol addiction problem in Vermont is severe.

Tour de Slate
The Tour de Slate is a fully supported fund raising bike ride. The Tour is made up of five different rides all designed to provide an enjoyable cycling experience no matter what your level of experience. The most challenging rides, cyclists a metric century(100km, 63.4 mi) rides and a 36 mile groad ride. Also a 36mi, a 25 mi and a family ride(off road on a trail) ensures that there is a ride suitable for everyone. The Tour de Slate is aptly named as it tours the world reknowned slate valley of western Vermont and bordering NY state. The beneficiary of the ride is Teen Challenge, VT. All net proceeds will be donated to that organization. Teen Challenge, VT is, according to some surveys, the most successful drug and alcohol addiction recovery program in the nation. It is a 15 month residency program and no one is refused admitance because of lack of funds. It is totally funded by private donations and funding. Teen Challenge, VT receives no government tax funding!
The jersey and free ride incentives remain unchanged but there has been added a new prize that will awarded to the highest individual rider fundraiser. This contest will end on the day of the ride. The prize will be announced at the ride.
The Tour de Slate's primary purpose is to raise funds in the effort to combat drug and alcohol addiction. All net proceeds will be donated to Teen Challenge, VT. Teen Challenge, VT runs a 15 month residential program providing drug and alcohol addiction recovery and rehabilitation. They also, through their End Addiction program, bring substance abuse prevention presentations to schools, youth groups or community events. Teen Challenge, VT has recently opened a women's facility where abused and addicted women can find refuge. Important to note; no one is turned away from Teen Challenge because of lack of funds. Teen Challenge, VT does not receive any tax raised money. Your donation is tax deductable. The 501(c)3 corp is Tour de Slate Inc.
