I have decided to ride in the El Tour de Tucson this year with a friend of mine. It is through the 501c(3) non profit organization, Jr El Tour, so every dollar you donate to the team is reimbursed when you file your taxes, this fundraising page will be available until the day of the race on November 18, 2023.
Jr El Tour helps kids become safe and healthy cyclists. I train with the a team 2x/week and ride with them on Saturdays. Our coaches and mentors are awesome and I am really liking the experience. If so inclined, please support my team and keep the Jr El Tour program rolling as it is completely free to kids who want to join.
Jr El Tour
Remember the freedom and joy you felt when riding your bike as a child? Jr El Tour does. Our youth cycling program began in 2012 to give at risk youth the chance to become safe cyclist. The program is provided at no cost to families and is funded through sponsorships and provate donations. The Jr El Tour (JET) program trains cyclists aged 10 - 17 giving them the opportunity to earn their bike and gear as they train. Our team trains to complete the 32-mile event of the El Tour de Tucson annually. Team members learn cycling skills, bike safety, bike maintenance and nutrition tip to help them become safe and responsible cyclists.
Jr El Tour is a free program helping over 40 students each year to become safe cyclists through training and goal setting. Team members earn their bike, hemet, kit and safety gear while they train. Our six month program combines fitness training, bicycle safety and goal setting as our young cyclists take on the challenge of riding in the El Tour de Tucson. Each November the team rides the El Tour de Tucson around the perimeter of Tucson. But for us the finish line is just the start. After completing the program our riders have the chance to return as mentors to new team members to build their leadership skills.
