I am raising funds for this race for SO many reasons!
1. I am a cancer survivor. I know first-hand that cancer sucks! It is life-altering, devastating and quite honestly, scary as hell.
2. I have lost people near and dear to me from cancer - it's a horrible thing to watch, witness, live through. Unfortunately, almost every person I can think of has done the same.
3. There is no price-tag for love and the loss of loved ones.
4. I am a runner. I am truly thankful for my health and ability to move and run - beyond measure. And as a runner, I can make an impact on my local community - I am trying to make a big one - at least the best one I can make.
5. I am the race director. This race is my 'baby' - it brings community together - runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors, spectators, cancer fighters and neighbors together...for a cause that helps each one of them/us locally. We make an impact, we make a difference, every dollar helps and we are all in this together. This is one of the VERY few races put on ALMOST 100% by donation. (We must pay for a few things - but most is donated by sponsors and a volunteer effort).
Please help me pay it forward' and make an impact by raising funds for an organization that helps local people dealing with cancer. All proceeds support Cancer Connection and they offer their services free of charge to make a difference in people's lives.

WMass Mother's Day Half Marathon
The WMass Mother's Day Half Marathon has been supporting Cancer Connection for 14 years! .
This race is one of extremely FEW that operate on donation. Race expenses are kept to a minimum, yet we try to make the runners' experience top-notch. This race has a vibe of gratitude, appreciation and so much love. Not only are runners happy to run, volunteers are happy to help and cancer-warriors are happy to benefit from the free services provided by Cancer Connection.
It is truly The BEST half in Western Mass! This race makes an impact!
Cancer Connection provides a haven where people with cancer and their loved ones can learn how to navigate the difficulties of cancer through FREE one-to-one guidance, education, peer support, integrative therapies and exercise and creative programs.
