I am so excited to be participating in the 8th Annual Swim With A Mission! As part of this event I am raising money for Veterans and I will also be swimming in memory of fallen soldiers from NH. (https://www.swam.org/honor-wall/) This will be my first 5K swim.
I came across this organization as I was researching open water races I could participate in in my quest for better health. I haven't served, but I wanted to give back since I have grandparents who served - and one of my sons is contemplating joining the service. As a personal note - I have a network of fabulous supporters that include my wife Heather, my four kids Ainsley, Jameson, Liam and Ramsay, my doctor (Dr. B) and my swimming coach William Lai all of whom encouraged me to go on this journey. This particular race is my third open water race this summer in a series of four - celebrating another trip around the sun and dropping a lot of weight in the process. Here's to health and balance - and to support such a great cause as you will see below.
Since being founded in 2017, Swim With A Mission has given almost $10 Million to service and support organizations that provide critical services to our Veterans.
Every year, SWAM focuses on important needs in the Veterans community and provides grants to worthy Veteran service and support programs. Each organization submits an application for a grant so we can consider how the money we raise each year can make the most impact in the community. The recipient of the grants provide services and support including mental health services, scholarships for children of a parent who died in service, taking care of homeless Veterans, providing rides and financial assistance to Veterans, providing health care services to Veterans, providing permanent housing for Veterans, K9’s for Veterans, and help with PTSD. Swim With A Mission
On July 13th, Swim With A Misson is excited to hold it’s 8th Annual Event which consists of competitive swim races. Participants can choose to participate in a 1K, 5K, 10K or 10K Team Relay swim at Wellington State Park in Bristol, NH.
