Welcome to my Tour de Slate fundraising page! I'm very excited to raise money for a cause I believe in. This event has supported my sobriety since 2017, and today, I am 7 years sober with a whole new life. I was lost to addiction, I had lost everything, I was all alone with no hope. Today I am employed, married, have four children, and am about to finish my bachelor's degree! Talk about a total change!
Tour de Slate supports those seeking freedom from addiction and are willing to make a fundamental change in their lives. All proceeds go to a Scholarship Fund that supports Men and Women entering Adult & Teen Challenge Vermont. They are a 12-month inpatient recovery center that helps support their effort for a change of life. This program changed my life, and I am still involved in helping people do the same. I am grateful for all and any support you can provide to this Bike Ride and the life-saving efforts of the Adult & Teen Challenge program.
Tour de Slate
The Tour de Slate is a fully supported fund raising bike ride. The Tour is made up of five different rides all designed to provide an enjoyable cycling experience no matter what your level of experience. The most challenging rides, cyclists a metric century(100km, 63.4 mi) rides and a 36 mile groad ride. Also a 36mi, a 25 mi and a family ride(off road on a trail) ensures that there is a ride suitable for everyone. The Tour de Slate is aptly named as it tours the world reknowned slate valley of western Vermont and bordering NY state. The beneficiary of the ride is Adult and Teen Challenge, VT. All net proceeds will be donated to that organization. Aduly/Teen Challenge, is, according to some surveys, the most successful drug and alcohol addiction recovery program in the nation. It is a 12 to 15 month residency program and no one is refused admitance because of lack of funds. It is totally funded by private donations and funding. Teen Challenge, VT receives no government tax funding!
The jersey and free ride incentives remain unchanged but there has been added a new prize that will awarded to the highest individual rider fundraiser. This contest will end on the day of the ride. The prize will be announced and presented at the ride.
The Tour de Slate's primary purpose is to raise funds in the effort to combat drug and alcohol addiction. All net proceeds will be donated to Adult /Teen Challenge, VT. Teen Challenge, VT runs a 15 month residential program providing drug and alcohol addiction recovery and rehabilitation. They also, through their End Addiction program, bring substance abuse prevention presentations to schools, youth groups or community events. Teen Challenge, VT has recently opened a women's facility where abused and addicted women can find refuge. Important to note; no one is turned away from Teen Challenge because of lack of funds.Adult/Teen Challenge, VT does not receive any tax raised money. Your donation is tax deductable.
