On Saturday, August 17, 2024, I will bike up Mount Washington, a 7.6 mile all-uphill race to the summit of the highest peak in the northeastern United States. Mt. Washington is home to some of the worst weather ever recorded on earth and many consider this hill climb to be the steepest cycling race in the world, so it's important to pack efficiently.

Instead of doing that, I'll be bringing everything but the kitchen sink on my Surly "Big Dummy" cargo bike. A big dumb adventure on a big dumb bicycle up a big dumb mountain. I hope it will make for a good story.

Fortunately, some good will definitely come from all of this nonsense because The Mt. Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb is the largest annual fundraiser for Tin Mountain Conservation CenterThey teach kids about the outdoors. That's a fine thing to fund.

So please help me to support a great environmental organization, while I crank to the top of the rockpile on a gangly amalgamation of steel and idiocy. I didn't decide that these things would be related. Somebody else did.
