This is important to me for many reasons, this year especially. This year I will be swimming in the 1K and earning that medal for the first time. The most important thing though is how Swim with a Mission through the, organizations supported, has impacted my life. Going in the military straight out of high school gave me certain expectations about how life would be. When I separated, I found it hard to make friends and difficult to understand interactions in the civilian world. Through Swim with a Mission I have connnected with other veterans, first responders and civilians who are already joyful or are on their way. Who knew that at 54 years old my life could redirect so passionatly. My husband and I are so grateful for the friends we've garnered through this and for the camraderie I've enjoyed. Now, if I can actually SWIM 1K without being dragged by a boat... maybe on to the relay next time? Thank you for your consideration!!
I am so excited to be participating in the 9th Annual Swim With A Mission! As part of this event I am raising money for Veterans and I will also be swimming in memory of a fallen soldier from NH.
Since being founded in 2017, Swim With A Mission has given almost $11.5 Million to service and support organizations that provide critical services to our Veterans.
Every year, SWAM focuses on important needs in the Veterans community and provides grants to worthy Veteran service and support programs. Each organization submits an application for a grant so we can consider how the money we raise each year can make the most impact in the community. The recipient of the grants provide services and support including mental health services, scholarships for children of a parent who died in service, taking care of homeless Veterans, providing rides and financial assistance to Veterans, providing health care services to Veterans, providing permanent housing for Veterans, K9’s for Veterans, and help with PTSD. Please visit http://www.swam.org to learn more about the organizations that Swim With A Mission supports.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal. Any amount will make a difference in the lives of Veterans and their families!!
Thank you!!
