On June 7, I will be participating in the Festivus of Gravel with the purpose of spending time on my bike with Michelle and other participants and hoping to raise funds and awareness for the Prostate Cancer Centre’s MAN VAN Program.
Unfortunately, my story is not unique and sadly is a story that is shared by too many. Michelle lost her Dad to Prostate Cancer in 2020 and my Dad has recently been diagnosed with it and finished his first round of treatment at the end of March. Presently there is not a cure for this horrible disease, but with continued research and early detection, there is hope.
The MAN VAN® program, established in 2009, is Canada’s first—and Alberta’s only—mobile men’s health clinic. It offers free PSA (prostate-specific antigen) blood testing to detect early signs of prostate cancer in men aged 40 to 70 in Alberta, with no appointment necessary.
The MAN VAN® program is an innovative and vital initiative that has significantly impacted men’s health in Alberta. It stands as a testament to the importance of accessible and affordable healthcare services for everyone.
If you can, please donate to this cause knowing the money raised could help to save someone's life.
Thanks,
Jeff
