Well, I'm going to try this again. I wrote a post Thursday night regarding my 2025 ERRACE (Everyone Ride Run Against Cancer Everyday) Stupid Human Trick (SHT) fundraiser bike ride and by Friday morning, it was gone. I must have deleted it by accident, even though I'm not sure how you could do that. And I know I wasn't dreaming that I did write it, that is unless Mac Serda comment was a dream also.
Anyways, this will be my 14th SHT for ERRACE.org. It is getting more difficult to come up with new ways of doing something stupid (a beyond normal physical challenge on a pedal bike). So for 2025, I'm going to piggy back on what I did in 2024. Last year, I did a 3x150, which is 3 consecutive days of riding 150 miles each day. And I did it in Florida last May where the heat index was 115° all three days. Yes, that was pretty stupid. So for 2025, I will return to Florida and do a 4x150. One hundred fifty miles each day, May 14, 15, 16 and 17. For those of you from my hometown of New Britain, CT, if you ever drove from home to Misquamicut Beach in Rhode Island and then back home, that would be 150 miles.
My goal is to raise $5,000 for ERRACE.org. 95% of the money raised is used to provide programs/services for cancer patients and/or their caregivers. Most of the money stays right here in Connecticut.
I first began doing this in honor of my sister in law Susan who at the time was battling cancer. I now ride in memory of her. In addition, I am dedicating my day one ride to Benjamin Wolfe . Ben is a 31 year old young man who retired from professional bike racing in 2023. He is a Connecticut resident and one of the most successful pros to ever come out of our state. On top of that, he is a world class guy. Ben is currently fighting the fight, so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers and forward him some positive juju.
And as a reminder, the Annual ERRACE event held at the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center in Avon will be on Saturday July 12, 2025. It is a great day for the entire family and offers something for everyone. You can choose to ride 25, 50 or 100 miles, walk, 5k run, and kids run. In addition, food - plenty of food, and everyone likes food.
