In the various fundraising I've done, I've never done one before that requires physical exertion from me. There's a first time for everything, and my Third Act is a good time to try it out.
I am excited to be doing a bike ride on September 14 for WE CAN, a Cape-based non-profit that empowers and supports women to build pathways to stability and self-sufficiency. For more than 20 years, WE CAN has assisted women on Cape Cod who are navigating transitions in their lives, such as job loss, divorce or loss of a spouse, legal and immigration issues, debt and financial stability issues, and personal growth opportunities.
Your donation to my ride will ensure that WE CAN continues to offer free and confidential services, including legal consultation, career and work support, financial empowerment, business support, mentoring and personal development programs.
Timothy and I are riding together. We are signed up to do the 15-mile loop, but we have begun training for the 34-mile loop. We will decide by August 30 which one we will do. We can do 34 miles in a day, and have done that (with some pain!), but we have never done it with just one break and in under 4 hours. That is our goal. If you want to "encourage" us, you are welcome to donate a certain amount now and "pledge" to donate a certain amount more if we reach our goal (by emailing or messaging us that you are making that pledge - there's no way to do it online). Either way works for us. We will greatly appreciate any amount you give.
Now off to work out!
