On Sunday, September 14th, 2025, I’ll be pedaling for a cause that means the world to me, supporting the children and adults with complex special needs who call Latham Centers home.
Latham is a nationally recognized nonprofit on Cape Cod, specializing in services for individuals with Prader-Willi syndrome and other developmental disabilities. Every mile I ride helps fund transformative programs, innovative therapies, and lifelong care that truly changes lives.

Latham Centers - Second Summer Cycle
Overview
The Second Summer Cycle is the perfect event for riders of all levels, offering a picturesque journey through 8 historic Cape Cod towns and a strong commitment to rider safety. Four distances are being offered, 15, 34, 60, and 101 miles. The start and finish is at beautiful Smugglers Beach in South Yarmouth where there will be a Finish Line Celebration from 12PM-5PM, including local beer, food trucks and live music.

Starts and Finishes: Starts and finishes will be at staggered times starting at 7:00AM from Smugglers Beach in South Yarmouth.
Registration Pricing:
- Century (101 miles): $125
- Almost Metric Century Plus (60 miles): $95
- 34 Mile Ride: $80
- 15 Mile Ride: $60
Safety
Safety: We will have marshals at every turn to help guide riders, and motorcyclists will be patrolling the entire course.
Support services: Bike shops will be represented along the course to help with any technical issues. There will also be SAG (support and gear) vehicles to help riders who need support or a pickup along the course.
Hydration and Nutrition: Ample hydration and nutrition stops will be strategically positioned along the course, along with medical and physical therapy stations equipped with tents and tables to ensure participants' comfort and well-being. The Hydration and Nutrition stops will be approximately every 15 miles.
Medical and Physical Therapy: There will be medical and physical therapy support at the Hydration and Nutrition stops.
Beneficiaries
21 Cape Cod non-profit organizations will benefit from the monies generated by the riders, each of whom is asked to raise at least $250 for their non-profit of choice, or to be disseminated across all participating charities, in addition to the registration fee.
All money raised by the riders will be paid directly to the beneficiaries. Riders are expected to raise at least $250 each, and each beneficiary team is expected to raise $5,000.
Finish Line Celebration
The Finish Line Celebration will take place from 12PM-5PM at Smuggler's Beach. You will be able to dance to the music of a great local band. You will have $30 in vouchers to use at food and beverage trucks as part of your registration fee to purchase food or beverages from 4 different food trucks, to include cold beverages provided by Barnstable Brewing Company, with Second Summer Cycle cans as memorabilia!
Changing your clothes at the finish: If you wish to change your clothes at the finish, changing rooms will be provided.

Latham Centers is thrilled to participate as a beneficiary charity once again with Second Summer Cycle, and we are grateful for your support. All funds raised through this year's event will support our students and adult residents through contributions to our variety of programs which promote confidence, self-worth, and agency in the student and adult residents we serve here at Latham. What our riders raise from Second Summer Cycle will also help fund Latham’s meaningful and hands-on educational curriculum and enrichment opportunities like the latest performance of Little Mermaid, the annual Spirit Week, or a trip to the Chatham Shark Center. We hope this event raises awareness about Prader-Willi syndrome and Latham Centers’ role in providing the gold standard care and education for our residents here on Cape Cod. Latham Centers:
Founded in 1970 in Brewster, MA, Latham Centers, Inc. is a nationally accredited treatment program providing therapeutic, residential, educational, recreational, and vocational services to individuals with complex special needs. Many of the individuals who call Latham Centers home are diagnosed with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS). PWS is a complex, randomly occurring genetic disorder. A spectrum syndrome, PWS manifests with characteristic symptoms, including insatiable appetite, mild-to-moderate intellectual disability, emotional and behavioral problems, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, and slow body metabolism. There is no cure for PWS, and successful interventions in therapeutic and skill-building programs enable individuals to learn coping skills. The syndrome occurs approximately once in every 15,000 births and occurs in all races and ethnic groups. Latham Centers is the only residential facility in the United States specializing in treating children and adults with PWS.
Additionally, Latham provides care to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and other diagnoses, such as PTSD, autism spectrum disorder as a secondary diagnosis, bipolar disorder, and reactive attachment disorder. Latham's team of educators, clinicians, nurses, and direct support professionals provide a nurturing environment where vulnerable children and adults can feel safe, recover from past traumas, and receive individualized education, treatment, and therapy.
