Hello friends and family!

Most of you know how much I have gained from my lifelong engagement in endurance sports. In July I will run the Vermont 100 mile running race for the third time. This is an important personal challenge for me, especially coming off a winter in which I fractured two vertebrae and tore the meniscus in one knee. Yet, thanks to medical care, expert coaching and patient support from friends and family, I expect to be ready.

As much as training for and racing such events centers me, there are people for whom just getting out to walk can be a challenge. There are people who just need a little extra assistance to meet the challenge that brings health, fun and passion to their lives. Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports provides sports and recreational programs as well as wellness and environmental retreats to people with disabilities. Their programs are offered to people of all ages, with a variety of disabilities. Programs include skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and Nordic in the winter; and sailing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, cycling, rock climbing, horseback riding, and more in the warmer months.  Vermont Adaptive offers financial support for anyone who needs it to participate.

The VT100 I will be competing in is both a horse and running race that has been a fundraiser for Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports since the late 1980s. It was the first ultra race to establish an award category for Athletes with Disabilities (and was also one of the first to recognize non-binary athletes!).

Please consider donating what you can to help me reach my goal and help Vermont Adaptive meet their goal too!

Thank you!

Servus,
Alex
