Hello friends and family!
In July I’ll be running (and walking…because let’s be real) the Vermont 100K Endurance Race. This is a challenge I’m looking forward to, but it’s also an optional one, a challenge I’m choosing. However, for many individuals just getting outside to walk or recreate can pose numerous challenges.
I believe that time spent outdoors and in nature is essential for everyone, that we all benefit physically and mentally from being outside. And just like my very first ultra, the Vermont 50K way back in 2011, the Vermont 100 on July 18th is a major fundraiser for Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports.
Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports provides sports and recreational programs as well as wellness and environmental retreats to people of all ages, with a variety of disabilities (physical, neurodiverse, intellectual, cognitive, and emotional/behavioral disabilities), from all over the world. Programs include skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and Nordic in winter; and sailing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, cycling, rock climbing, horseback riding, and more in warmer months. Vermont Adaptive also offers financial support for anyone who needs it to participate.
Me running a race isn’t essential, but all individuals having access to the outdoors and recreation should be.
Please consider donating what you can to help me reach my goal of raising $3,000 for Vermont Adaptive. Together, a donation of:
- $50 covers a half day of adaptive kayaking on Lake Champlain
- $150 covers a full day of alpine skiing, with lift ticket, instruction, and adaptive equipment
- $600 covers four days of winter programming with equipment and instruction for one participant
- $1,000 covers one week of skiing for a disabled veteran
In addition to donating via the big blue DONATE button above, you also can send cash or checks directly to me and skip the online fees. Mail cash or checks (made out to "Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports") to:

17 Richardson Road

Let’s help Vermont Adaptive help others meet their outdoor goals. Any amount, big or small, will make a difference to an adaptive athlete.
Thank you! And please feel free to reach out with any questions.

SOME FAQ’S
Why are you running this race?
Because I wanted the challenge of running an ultra again. Plus, it benefits a great cause.
Haven’t you done it already?
I did the Vermont 100-miler back in 2017, and I’ve done other ultras, but I’ve never run a 100K and would like to tick off that box.
How far is 100K?
100 kilometers is 62 miles.
Are you going to run the whole time?
Probably not. I’ll stop to refuel and such at aid stations and will likely strategically walk some of Vermont’s many hills.
How long will it take you?
I don't know, but I have 25 hours to finish. For perspective, the 100K course records are more than nine hours. I expect to be somewhere in between those times.
When is it?
The Vermont 100 starts on July 18th, but you can donate anytime now through August 15th.
