On Saturday, August 15, 2026, I'll be riding up Mount Washington as part of the Mt. Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb. This is a 7.6-mile all-uphill race to the summit of the highest peak in the Northeast. With an average gradient of 12% and sections exceeding 20%, it is considered by many to be one of the steepest cycling races in the world.

This will be my first time competing in this race, and I am looking forward to the challenge. The relentless gradient brings together a community of riders all united in their goal of reaching the summit. The unpredictable weather makes it even more exciting, although we'll be hoping for nice conditions this year!

This event supports the Tin Mountain Conservation Center (TMCC), which is an organization that has provided environmental education to students and communities in northern New Hampshire and Western Maine for over 34 years. Their work focuses on community nature programs, environmental education, camps, conservation research, and sustainability. Growing up spending summers in Rangeley, Maine, I have a strong connection to this region and am happy to be riding in support of their mission.
