Once again, and this year on August 8, 2026, I intend to ride the ODRAM ("One Day Ride Across Michigan"), my 4th after completing the 150+ mile in one day ride in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
I’m taking part in the 2026 ODRAM, along with hundreds of riders from around the world, in part because of the physical challenge (and attendant joy) and in part to raise money for Breakthrough T1D, the leading global organization funding Type 1 Diabetes ("T1D") research.
About Type 1 Diabetes, it:
- Strikes both children and adults suddenly and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle.
- Occurs when the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. Insulin is essential to turning food into energy.
- Requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on injected insulin.
Breakthrough T1D is working every day to change this. And every dollar I raise in the 2026 ODRAM helps them continue to bring life-changing therapies from the lab to the community until a cure is found.
