Hello Friends & Family,
On September 13, I will be riding 100 miles across Cape Cod in support of The Great Blizzards of Massachusetts Special Hockey program and to honor our daughter, Shira, on what would be her 20th birthday this year. This charity ride is part of the Second Summer Cycle and I am thrilled to be participating.
The Great Blizz was created with the motto "No Hockey Player Left Behind." The Great Blizz is a team for players who cannot play on any other team due to cognitive, intellectual, developmental and/or physical disabilities. All genders, all backgrounds, all abilities are welcome. Most of these players never skated before and now they play the game they love - ice hockey. With your generosity, players on the Great Blizz can enjoy hockey like everybody else.
This ride has special meaning to me as it brings together four things I love most: Family, Cape Cod, Hockey, and Cycling. Shira's legacy has taught me and our family how to be brave, how to do hard things and how not to be scared of the challenges that life brings. Twenty years later, this is my special way to honor her memory by fundraising for The Great Blizz, and embracing the challenge of my first century ride.
My fundraising goal is modest. If you choose to donate to my ride, please consider $18, as this will bring extra meaning to Shira's life and the impact she continues to have on all of us.
Love,
Rach
