Without your support, The Great Blizzards of Massachusetts Special Hockey program would be on THIN ICE!
Dear Great Blizz Fundraising Enthusiast - In an effort to level the playing field - or ice sheets - The Great Blizz was created with the motto NO HOCKEY PLAYER LEFT BEHIND. A team for players who cannot play on any other team due to cognitive, intellectual, developmental and/or physical disabilities.
And I am overjoyed to be participating in the Second Summer Ride. It is an opportunity for all of us to embark on a healthy and fun venture while fulfilling the dreams of players and their families and coaches on The Great Blizz.
Currently the team has 65 players ages 4 to 39 in two locations - S Dennis on the Cape and Kingston on the South Shore. All genders, all backgrounds, all abilities are welcome. Most of these players never skated before and now they play the game they love - ice hockey.
This would not be made possible without the generosity of people like yourself who have donated their funds, their time, their kids' unwanted equipment and our coaches, many with special education experience and many in middle and high school.
Hockey is an expensive sport, one reason why large special needs organizations do not offer it amongst their other programs.
Ice time costs money, equipment for our players costs money, storage costs money and game and practice uniforms cost money.
With your generosity, our players can enjoy hockey like everybody else.
Thank you again for your consideration and we hope to see you on the roads of the Cape on September 14!
