We have all seen the news and we know what is happening in science, medicine and healthcare in America.

There is a reduction or elimination of vital research, cutbacks in support of welllness programs and patient advocacy, and a growing incidence of misinformation and mistrust of science.  These changes have perhaps the most dramatic impact on widespread chronic conditions such as diabetes, of which there are more than 34 million Americans who must meet this challenge on a daily basis.

For my 15th time, I am cycling in the New England Classic Charity Bike Tour to support diabetes research and patient care.  Specifically, as in years past, the funds raised in part will support Camp Carefree, a summer camp for young people with diabetes, which will offer patient support, education and fun.  Also, funds will be used to assist the good work of the American Diabetes Association, including research and patient advocacy.

It is a little different this year, as we will be following hub and spoke routes, where we begin and end at the same location in New Hampshire, rather than traveling around New England.  But we still will be experiencing the hills, backroads and coastline of New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts.  As challenging as ever.

I hope you will consider supporting my efforts and this cause.

Thank you so very much.
