You all have seen my work with S2R. The precision of those yellow turn arrows and confirmation dots after the intersections. I am also ridden anywhere from 35 to 60 miles on the S2R rides. In the past, I have supported S2R,, to an extent.
But this year is different. I am currently battling prostate cancer that became very aggressive, very fast. I have received the crash course on biopsies, PET scans, SBRT radiation, IMRT/IGRT radiation, radioactive Iodine 125 isotopes used in brachytherapy seeds, and much more. (Yes, I am somewhat radioactive at this time and have the KU card to explain it)
I NOW HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT CANCER TREATMENT IS ABOUT.
It is clear that I need to step up my efforts in supporting S2R and Cancer Action. I am hoping to be on the road for the short course on August 2nd. I am getting an understanding of the effects of the cancer drugs that are in me today and believe that I can do the short course, if I plan it out. I still do not have the OK from my doctors, but hope to have some discussions soon to see if I get the green light. If I get a no go, I will still be at Eric’s anyway helping out where needed.
I ask that you give generously to this effort to help Cancer Action assist those who really need it.
Please read the other stories of the people fundraising for S2R, and maybe support them as well. (see Rayna Bush)

Sunflowers to Roses Bike Tour
We are looking forward to our 24th Annual Sunflowers to Roses Bike tour on Sunday, August 2nd. We are a fundraising ride that raises money in the fight against Cancer. We are supporting Cancer Action Kansas City once again this year. We hope you will not only join us to ride but set up a fundraising page as well to make your impact even bigger.
Sunflowers to Roses is a charity bike tour that benefits Cancer Action, supporting cancer patients and their families throughout Kansas City.
Our Mission
Sunflowers to Roses was created by a group of professional peers and friends who wanted to honor the memory of Chris Anthony and Jack Lockton – who both lost their battles to cancer. During their battle, both men were inspired to Live Strong by Lance Armstrong’s triumph over cancer and his subsequent Tour de France victories. Sunflowers to Roses raises money and awareness to fight cancer and promotes cycling as a safe recreational family activity.
Objective
To promote awareness of, and participation in, the Sunflowers to Roses Organization’s various events that appeal to a broad spectrum of people, and to raise ongoing financial support in the fight against cancer.
Sunflowers to Roses Organization, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational organization, IRS Tax ID 52-2416416. All donations to the organization are fully tax deductible as allowed by law.
About Cancer Action
Cancer Action is a local Kansas City community-based nonprofit agency offering a comprehensive array of programs and services addressing the physical, social, emotional, financial and spiritual needs of cancer survivors… people with cancer, their family, friends and supporters. Cancer Action offers support in ways that Sunflowers to Roses values through dedication to reducing distress and improving the quality of life for those living with, through and beyond cancer. Cancer Action promotes education, prevention and early detection to reduce the impact of cancer in Greater Kansas City. Both Sunflowers to Roses and Cancer Action offer education, empowerment, hope and comfort to those touched by cancer in our Kansas City community. All of Cancer Action programs and services are provided free of charge. Sunflowers to Roses has provided a movement room and helps keep these programs free to all who need them.
Cancer Action is actively expanding its “heart” of care to better meet the needs of our community today and for the years ahead. Important research has been done to determine unmet needs of cancer patients and survivors. Many of those needs identified by the Lance Armstrong Foundation have been seen across the country and are being addressed here in Kansas City through the comprehensive support given at Cancer Action. Cancer Action is continuing its tradition of compassionate, vital care into the next 50 years, and is in a position to do that through careful planning and development of new programs, services and preparing facilities to be a place of comfort, hope and support to those with cancer at every stage of their journey.
