I am riding The Ride for Mental Health on June 27, 2026, to fundraise for McLean Hospital.
I did a 50 mile ride for this charity 9 years ago. Many of my friends supported that effort and I am grateful for that support.
This time I will be using my Class 1 eBike (there is no throttle so I'm always pedaling). I'm challenging myself to do the 87 mile loop around Cayuga Lake.
The Ride for Mental Health supports specific programs at McLean Hospital, focused on serious mental illness and the individuals and families navigating it. Since 2017, this community has raised more than $1.6 million to support that work. This year, the goal is $250,000.
Funding from the Ride has directly supported programs including the Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder Program, which focuses on treatment, research, and long-term care strategies; the Deconstructing Stigma initiative, which works to change how mental illness is understood and discussed; the Family Services Program, which provides education and support for families navigating care; and the McLean Institute for Technology in Psychiatry, which explores how technology can improve access, early intervention, and long-term outcomes.
In addition, a portion of funds supports local youth mental health programming in the Hudson Valley, extending the impact of the Ride into the community where the event takes place. These are active programs working directly with patients, families, and clinicians.
