This weekend I'm riding 50 miles in The Ride for Mental Health to raise money for mental health care.
I'm doing it because I believe in the work. Some of the people I respect most spend their days helping others through the hardest stretches of their lives, including my wife, who is a therapist. I've also been on the other side of it. Therapy has made a real difference in my own life, and I wish that kind of care were easier to access and easier to talk about.
For a lot of people, it still isn't. Cost is one barrier. Stigma is another. Funding research and treatment chips away at both.
The money raised here goes to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, for the education, research, and treatment of mental illness. The ride itself was started by a father who lost his son, as a way to turn that loss into something that helps other people get better.
If this matters to you too, I'd be grateful for your support. Any amount helps, and every donation moves me closer to my goal.
Thank you.
Anthony
The Ride for Mental Health 2026
The Ride for Mental Health is one of the first rides in the country to benefit mental health. The proceeds raised will be donated to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, for the education, research, and treatment of mental illness including anxiety, borderline personality disorder, depression, eating disorders and substance abuse. Our mission is to raise funds for McLean so that we can help accelerate the progress being made to help others who suffer from mental illness.
We also hope to end the stigma surrounding mental illness through education and awareness. The promotion of this ride is a start. Many if not most of us are touched by close friends and relatives who have suffered from one type or another of mental illness.
