On June 20, I’ll be pedaling through the Pioneer Valley as part of the Bikes Fight Cancer community—riding to support patients, families, and caregivers impacted by cancer. Every dollar I raise helps fund essential cancer care services and supports hospitals advancing life-saving cancer research.
I am excited to participate in the Bikes Fight Cancer Charity Ride! It is next to impossible to meet someone who has not been affected by cancer in their life. Whether it is fighting the disease personally or witnessing a family member/friend/member of the community go through it. The impact is profound and I am fortunate to be able to help fundraise money for an amazing cause while getting the opportunity to ride my bike with like minded individuals.
For me personally, I am riding for my loved ones that have passed, became a survivor, or are currently experiencing this disease. I recall being young and not understanding why or how this can happen to someone, and to this day still struggle to grasp it.
In 2015, I rode across the country with a group of 28 other young adults fundraising money and raising awareness for the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults. We met hundreds of people along the way who shared their experiences with us and took part in community events. That 70 day journey will have a lifelong impact on me. #eastiseast
