The Lennie Antonelli and Jake Hill Memorial Ride
This memorial ride is an opportunity for friends, family, and the broader cycling community to come together in remembrance of Lennie Antonelli and Jake Hill on the anniversary of their passing. Lennie and Jake were deeply valued members of the riding community, and this event is intended to reflect the spirit of connection, respect, and shared purpose that they embodied.

The White Line was founded in 2023 with a single mission: to end road deaths and create safer streets for everyone — cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers alike.
Our organization began after the tragic death of Magnus White, a young cyclist whose story galvanized a movement for change. From day one, we’ve focused on immediate, decisive action, combining stories, technology, and data to tackle the root causes of traffic violence.
We work nationwide to:
- Push for stronger laws and accountability in every state.
- Provide tools and resources that help communities demand safer streets.
- Build a future where reckless and careless driving is no longer tolerated.
- Support families and survivors navigating grief and trauma.
In just a few short years, The White Line has grown into a national movement driven by passionate advocates, families, and policymakers united by one goal: ending preventable road deaths by 2035.
The NC Chapter was founded by Maddie Barondeau and Griffin Tichenor — friends, cyclists, and advocates who never expected to be doing this work. On July 1, 2025, Griffin went out for a training ride on one of Western North Carolina’s most popular cycling routes with two close friends, including Maddie’s fiance: Lennie Antonelli and Jacob Hill. A dump truck veered into their lane, striking them head on. Griffin survived. Lennie and Jacob did not.
Griffin hasn’t ridden his bike since that day. Griffin and Maddie now live with the trauma of having two close friends and loved ones die in a crash that was entirely preventable. And with the anger that comes from knowing this keeps happening to people outside of cars across the country.
Maddie and Griffin helped found the North Carolina chapter to turn grief into action, and to make sure Lennie and Jacob’s names, along with all other victims in North Carolina, are never forgotten.
