Hello friends and family!

On May 28, 2025, a day I will remember for the rest of my life, I became one in eight. What I mean is, one in eight women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in their lifetime, and on that day, it was my turn. On that day I began to climb my own mountain of breast cancer survivorship.

This summer, as I passed my 1-year cancer anniversary, I am training to climb a different mountain. Through an organization called Expedition Inspiration, I am joining a group of women, who are also breast cancer survivors, to hike up Galena Peak in Idaho (elevation over 11,000 feet). Our goal is to raise money that will go toward finding a cure for breast cancer. 

Breast cancer is the most common cancer for women (31% of all cancers). That is not just a statistic - that is our mothers, daughters, aunts, cousins, and friends. Take a minute and consider all the women and girls in your life.  I am climbing this mountain for them. 

Expedition Inspiration is dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer. Since 1995, the organization has provided more than $2 million in research funding. These funds directly support scientists working to advance breast cancer research, including grants for early-career researchers and a research symposium that brings together leading experts to share the latest developments in treatments, clinical trials, prevention, and patient care.

In addition to funding research, Expedition Inspiration supports women affected by breast cancer through its survivorship program. This program helps women reconnect with their physical, emotional, and mental well-being through hiking and mountain-climbing experiences. These adventures inspire hope, build community, and raise vital funds to support ongoing research.

I am forever grateful for all the love and support I have received through this cancer journey. I would appreciate your love, support, and enthusiasm as I work hard to get to the summit of Galena Peak. A donation, no matter how small, will help me reach my climb goal of $2,000. All money raised goes directly to Expedition Inspiration.

Breast cancer survivor and mountain climber Laura Evans founded the Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research in 1995 in Ketchum, Idaho. Expedition Inspiration's mission is to raise awareness and money to benefit innovative breast cancer research, public education and patient support. Additionally, through organized and sponsored outdoor endeavors like mountain climbs and hikes, we promote the physical and mental wellbeing of breast cancer survivors. Today breast cancer affects one in every eight American women -- mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends. It is the leading cause of death for women 35-54, and 80% of women with breast cancer have no known risk factors for the disease. There is still no cure, and thus, a need continues for research support, collaboration and funding.
