Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you know, I lost the central vision in my left eye 12 years ago to some unknown but similar condition to age-related wet macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness in people over the age of 55. Oh, and I’m not over 55 btw :) Being in my late 20s at the time, the docs were baffled - never very comforting to hear! That said, I feel incredibly fortunate that after many treatments, it has stabilized so I still have some peripheral vision and it has not spread into my right eye, and fingers crossed it never will!
Ever since then, I have been an active volunteer and supporter of foundations that support blindness and
I teach a weekly yoga and meditation class to the blind members of the LightHouse for the Blind & Visually Impaired. I also
led a yoga and wellness retreat at the Enchanted Hills Camp for the Blind in February, a beautiful retreat center in Napa, owned by the LightHouse. The camp is mostly used for blind and visually impaired children’s camps to explore and create, gain courage, try new things and make lifelong friends.
On April 26th, 2014 I will be cycling a beautiful and hilly 50 miles up in Napa Valley as part of CYCLE FOR SIGHT, organized by the Rotary Club of Napa, to raise money for the Enchanted Hills Camp, so that they can continue to expand and offer more and more retreats, camps and services for the blind and visually impaired members of our community. Donations will also support the The Pathway Home to support veterans.
I’m inviting you to consider making a donation to this wonderful cause. Any amount is appreciated, even $5 or $10 helps. Donations will be accepted through April 30th, 2014. (For those of you in the UK, it seems to require a 10-digit US phone number so feel free to enter mine: 9179131144)
Thank you in advance for your support. I look forward to supporting you and a charity that is close to your heart as well soon!
With Love,
Sally x
