I'm going to Vermont in July to again tackle the Vermont 100 mile run. The VT100 is one of the oldest 100 mile races and like the granddaddy of them all, the Western States 100, has its origins in an endurance horse ride. Way back in 1990 it is where I ran my 100-mile PR. These days it's hard for me just to stay ahead of the cut-off times, but I hope to chalk up another finish.

The VT100 is a fund-raiser for Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports (VASS), which provides programs to people of all ages with a variety of challenges in life. They provide instruction, fun programs and specialized equipment year-round, including for Alpine and Nordic skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing in the winter; and sailing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, cycling, rock climbing, horseback riding, and other sports in warmer months. I have met some of the people who benefit from these programs and some of the volunteers who work with them, and have contributed to their support in the past. You can see more information about VASS below or at http://www.vermontadaptive.org/aboutus.php

This year I have decided to ask friends to support me by contributing to VASS on my personal fund-raising page at 'PledgeReg' http://www.PledgeReg.com/90549. I know VASS is an excellent organization and it's a great cause. And for me it would add an extra incentive to push hard at the race and make it to the finish line if I know there are people who have pledged their support!
