Growing up in South Eastern Pennsylvania and racing in the Mid-Atlantic Super Series (MASS) as a junior was one of the biggest roles, which has influenced my continued participation in the sport of Cycling. Through my junior years of racing I always had heard of the Transylvania Epic and wanted to participate, however, I was never able to come up with the funds to make it happen.
Therefore, being a part of this initial introduction for fundraising as a way of gaining entry to a race is huge for me. To me this means that younger riders have an oppourtunity to race and be involved, while not worrying too much about fincanial obligaitons. It makes doing more expensive, epic, awesome races feasible.
I am not only excited about my involvement in this years race but also excited about the fact that over half of the money I raise towards my goal will go to developing and promoting the sport I love. Looking back at my High School I think a lot of kids would have been interested in Cycling had the sport been more readily advertised and supported in the community. Cycling participation isn't nearly on par with the level of participation that soccer, Basketball, or baseball has but this is, most certainly, a step in the right direction. I can only see positive things for the future of the sport by getting more #PaKidsonBikes!
Please contact me directly for more information about my efforts to raise money for the PA Interscholastic Cycling League and to help put #pakidsonbikes.
The net proceeds from the fund raising effort will be directed to the PA League. If I am successful in meeting my goal of $1500, a minimum of $1000 will go to the PA League. To make this possible the Outdoor Experience Organization is absorbing costs associated with collecting the donations through this on-line process and the difference between the remaining proceeds and the cost to participate in the TSEpic event.

Donating through PledgeReg is free for donors. You will only be charged the amount of your pledge and no service fee is added.
So how does pledgereg benefit?
- The OEO (Outdoor Experience Organization) will be charged 6.5% on funds raised -- so TSE will be covering about $100 when I hit the $1500 mark (about) because the promoters are really aiming for $1000 going to PICL (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League).
The PA League and all other NICA Leagues share 5 Core Principles:
Inclusivity
Equality
Strong Body
Strong Mind
Strong Character
These are the key elements to our effort. This league is open to any student in 6th-12th grade. Everyone is welcome to take part. Everyone counts. No one "sits the bench."
Our primary focus is for our participants to experience the fun of this sport and the benefits it conveys to mind, body and character for life. Additionally, community service through trail advocacy will be a key component of the PA League effort state-wide.
The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League is a non-profit 501(c)3 NICA Project League. The league as one of the largest first year leagues in NICA history with close to 300 riders participating in our first season. Our goal is to provide fun, safe, and competitive mountain biking opportunities for middle & high school students in the Commonwealth. The league also provides structured training programs for prospective coaches, riders, and school officials.
With the cooperation of our staff, volunteers, partners, sponsors, and you we will continue to grow and expand this educational, character building, and fun mountain bike experience throughout our state.
The Outdoor Experience Organization and Trans-Sylvania Epic are proud to support the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League. Net proceeds from the fundraising effort will be donated to the PA League by the OEO.
