Thanks for visiting my Eversource Walk & 5K Run for Easterseals fundraising page!
Easterseals is the leading non-profit provider of services for individuals with developmental disabilities, physical and mental disabilities, and other special needs. For more than 80 years, Easterseals NH has been offering help and hope to infants, children, adults, seniors, and more recently veterans and people with substance abuse issues, and their families. Through therapy, training, education and support services, Easterseals creates life-changing solutions so that people with disabilities can live, learn, work and play in their communities.
Our son Jack was born with Hypotonia (low muscle tone). This has presented several physical, emotional, and behavioral challenges for him over the course of his development. Fortunately, my wife Alison noticed some early warning signs and we were able to jump on this early on and get help. We have seen some of the best neurological/developmental doctors in the country at Boston Children’s who have diagnosed Jack generally with Global Developmental Delay (GDD). Fortunately, through MRI’s/Genetic Testing/Cellular tests/etc, we have been able to rule out several high functioning disorders.
The challenges are daily and on-going. He has great days and not so great days as we all do, though his challenges are different. In the coming months we will be trying out some different techniques to try and ‘rebuild and restore’ his Neuro-sensorimotor pathways that may be compromised, that are surely leading to some of these physical challenges. Fingers crossed.
On behalf of my family, we thank you for reading and are truly appreciative of any support you are able to provide to this cause. We can’t imagine these services not being available to all of those who need them in the future.
