I've signed up to ride in this year's The Ride for Mental Health on 6/22/2019 in New Paltz, NY to benefit Eric's Ride Inc. Eric's Ride Inc. was created to raise money for mental illness and reduce the stigma associated with it. It was organized by a colleague of mine in memory of his son, Eric, who died at the age of 20 due to mental health-related issues. Last year's Ride raised $150,000 to support mental health research and treatment at McLean Hospital. My husband and I participated in this wonderful event and raised $2,000.
We're participating in this event because mental health issues have affected our family and we know first hand how relunctant people are to talk about these issues or to ask for help. This is my way of raising awareness about mental health and letting people know that it needs to be treated the same as physical ailments and diseases.

The Ride for Mental Health 2019
The Ride for Mental Health is one of the first rides in the country to benefit mental health. The proceeds raised will be donated to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, for the education, research, and treatment of mental illness including anxiety, borderline personality disorder, depression, eating disorders and substance abuse. Our mission is to raise funds for McLean so that we can help accelerate the progress being made to help others who suffer from mental illness.
We also hope to end the stigma surrounding mental illness through education and awareness. The promotion of this ride is a start. Many if not most of us are touched by close friends and relatives who have suffered from one type or another of mental illness.
Eric's Ride Inc. is a New York not for profit corporation with 501(c)(3) status. 100% of rider pledges will be donated to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate.
