Hello and welcome to my 2020 Sunflowers to Roses (S2R) fundraising page. As many of you know, I have been a strong supporter and fundraiser for S2R for many years now. I strongly believe in the work that Cancer Action (www.canceractionkc.org) does in our community and they are the primary beneficiary of this 18th Annual S2R ride. In the past year, I have lost my father, Bill, after his long battle with Cancer (although he died of cardiac arrest) and a good friend, Brian Vossman, who lost his battle against a rare form of Cancer. My ride and fundraising this year is dedicated to their memories.
In this year of strangeness in our world, I know it may be more challenging for some to donate at levels like prior years. But, as difficult as the economic conditions may be for some, please keep in mind that charities like Cancer Action are the first to feel the negative consequences of a slowing economy. Please donate as much as you can this year as Cancer Action needs it more than ever.
As always, I really appreciate all you can do for our cause. As in the past, I will ride the 35 mile route this year as part of my commitment to this great event.
Thanks for your support!
Kevin
Sunflowers to Roses
Sunflowers to Roses is a charity bike ride raising money in the fight against Cancer. Choose to join us on the road (14, 34, 52 or 62 miles) or on one of our gravel routes (40 or 62 miles). All money raised by our event goes to Cancer Action, a local Kansas City community-based nonprofit agency offering a comprehensive array of programs and services addressing the physical, social, emotional, financial and spiritual needs of cancer survivors… people with cancer, their family, friends and supporters.
For 18 years, we have been riding to assist those with cancer and to honor those who have lost their battle.
Join the Fight. Enjoy the Ride.
Sunflowers to Roses is a charity bike tour that benefits Cancer Action, supporting cancer patients and their families throughout Kansas City.
Our Mission
Sunflowers to Roses was created by a group of professional peers and friends who wanted to honor the memory of Chris Anthony and Jack Lockton – who both lost their battles to cancer. During their battle, both men were inspired to Live Strong by Lance Armstrong’s triumph over cancer and his subsequent Tour de France victories. Sunflowers to Roses raises money and awareness to fight cancer and promotes cycling as a safe recreational family activity.
Objective
To promote awareness of, and participation in, the Sunflowers to Roses Organization’s various events that appeal to a broad spectrum of people, and to raise ongoing financial support in the fight against cancer.
Sunflowers to Roses Organization, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational organization, IRS Tax ID 52-2416416. All donations to the organization are fully tax deductible as allowed by law.
About Cancer Action
Cancer Action is a local Kansas City community-based nonprofit agency offering a comprehensive array of programs and services addressing the physical, social, emotional, financial and spiritual needs of cancer survivors… people with cancer, their family, friends and supporters. Cancer Action offers support in ways that Sunflowers to Roses values through dedication to reducing distress and improving the quality of life for those living with, through and beyond cancer. Cancer Action promotes education, prevention and early detection to reduce the impact of cancer in Greater Kansas City. Both Sunflowers to Roses and Cancer Action offer education, empowerment, hope and comfort to those touched by cancer in our Kansas City community. All of Cancer Action programs and services are provided free of charge. Sunflowers to Roses has provided a movement room and helps keep these programs free to all who need them.
Cancer Action is actively expanding its “heart” of care to better meet the needs of our community today and for the years ahead. Important research has been done to determine unmet needs of cancer patients and survivors. Many of those needs identified by the Lance Armstrong Foundation have been seen across the country and are being addressed here in Kansas City through the comprehensive support given at Cancer Action. Cancer Action is continuing its tradition of compassionate, vital care into the next 50 years, and is in a position to do that through careful planning and development of new programs, services and preparing facilities to be a place of comfort, hope and support to those with cancer at every stage of their journey.
