Welcome to my 2020 Magnolia Run Fundraising Page!

Here is a little bit about my epilepsy journey told by my mommy:

Hunter was diagnosed with Epilepsy in January of 2020 after having 5 seizures (within a 4 hour period) the first night of his extended VEEG stay at Scottish Rite. His specific type of epilepsy is called Frontal Lobe Epilepsy. Upon his diagnosis Hunter was immediately started on an anti-seizure mediciation and his journey began. A couple of months after starting this new medicine, we noticed a negative change in behavior, and there was no seizure control yet, so Hunter's neurologist prescribed another medicine to try. A few months after taking the new medicine, Hunter was almost up to his full dose when he had a seizure followed by a hallucination one morning. At this same time he also developed a rash, so we stopped that second medicine and started on a new third medicine. A few months after taking this third medicine we still had not seen any seizure relief, so after a follow up visit Hunter was started on his fourth seizure medicine that he was supposed to take in combination with the third one he was currently on. He was also prescribed a "sleeping pill" since Hunter's seizures mostly happen at night while he is sleeping. That catches us up to where we currently are today. Unfortunately, we are still struggling with seizure control despite the combination of medications. Hunter will complete another admission in the EMU at Scottish Rite on November 9th to get more data on his seizures, and to reassess his treatment plan. We are walking and fundraising to raise epilepsy awareness, and to continue to have "Hope for Hunter" throughout his epilepsy diagnosis/journey. We are hopeful that one day there will be a cure for epilepsy, and that we, along with Hunter's medical team, can find the right treatment plan that works best for Hunter so that he may become seizure free.
