I am once again participating in Edges’ 11th annual 24 Hour Charity Challenge Hockey Game and like to extend my thanks to everyone who donated last year. After the announcement of easing of public health restrictions, the game has been scheduled for April 8th-9th.

About the event:

The fundraising event is a 24-hour hockey game. The game pits Edges instructors’ expertise (and age) against our young power skating students ranging in age from Learn to Hockey to Junior. The instructors have donated their time during planning and to play the game, for 24 hours! The Canadian Athletic Club has donated the ice and arena staff for the entire 24-hour period, and participants will pay an entry fee in addition to obtaining pledges in the community.

Proceeds from the 24-hour Game go to support the Matt Cook Foundation CARES packages which are presented to young adult in-patients at the Cross Cancer Institute. The packages include an iPad, Beats head phones, iTunes gift cards, a blanket, journal, flashlight, all in a wheeled travel bag. They are intended to help the young patient keep connected to their friends and family as they battle for their lives, something that Matt himself felt was necessary.

My History:

This will be my 11th year participating in the event and my 5th year going for the Iron Man Trophy which is given to those whole play through the full 24 hours.

My personal goal this year is to raise is $2000 through pledges and the Ledcor Cares Match, which is only made possible with your generous support and donations.
