Thanks for coming to my page! This event is the biggest fundraiser for the Athletic Association every year, so every donation makes a huge difference to the sports at Mohawk. I'm trying to raise as much as I can to thank the MAA for everything they have given to my teams, specifically, over the years I have been at Mohawk. I really hope you can help me achieve my goal, and I appreciate any support you can give!
Doug Turner Memorial Benefit for Athletics - Moonlight Walk-a-thon
Saturday, October 5th is the date for the 11th Annual Doug Turner Memorial Benefit for Athletics including the NEW Moonlight Walk-a-thon. This event honors the memory of our special friend Doug Turner. Doug’s love of family and community was tremendous and his enthusiasm for athletics was contagious.
All the proceeds from the event go to the Mohawk Athletic Association and the Doug Turner Scholarship Fund. We are very happy to inform you that, with your generous support over the last 10 years, we surpassed last year’s total goal of $20,000.00 and helped students with scholarships that allowed them to achieve their own college goals. Thanks to your continued donations, Mohawk Athletic programs thrive and the children reap all the positive benefits. In the 2012-2013 season, over $22,000.00 was spent purchasing team specific athletic equipment, uniforms, and adding a weight room for our athletes to train in.
This years Moonlight Walk-a-thon will offer the athletes and their families the opportunity to give back to the sports programs and scholarship funds while having a great time doing so. Athletes and their families are asked to collect pledges in return for the hours they'll spend doing their moonlight walk from 5pm until 7am where a single individual or team member must be walking or running on the track at all times.
For every $100.00 raised by an individual, they'll receive a special raffle ticket for which they can enter to win one of many prizes. The more you raise, the more chances you have to win!
The MAA is an organization made up of parents, coaches, and community members. We work to
raise supplemental funds to support all of the athletic programs at Mohawk Trail encompassing 256
square miles. Grades 7-12 have a student population of 700; approximately 55% of which participates
in school sports programs.
