Riding for Mental Health: Honoring Brent's Legacy and the Spirit of Team Shake It Off
In February 2021, our lives were forever changed when we lost my husband's best friend Brent, to suicide. He wasn't just a friend; he was a brother and confidant. They shared a bond through hockey officiating, carpentry and cycling. His absence has left a void not only in our lives but in the hearts of all who knew him.
Brent's legacy continues through the incredible work of his sister and the team she formed, "Shake It Off." What started as a small group of three has grown into a team of eleven! Over the past three years, Team Shake It Off has raised nearly $40,000 in support of mental health initiatives. We are making a difference!
Brent was more than just a friend; he was family. His smile could light up the darkest of days, yet beneath it, he carried a burden that few could see. Through this ride, we aim to shine a light on the silent struggles so many face and break the stigma surrounding mental health.
