Hello friends and family!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Last Fall, I was sitting in a small stream (cooling off) with two friends (Vinny & Kimberly) after day 2 of running in a three day trail race. We were recapping the day and the conversation turned to VT100 and its fundraising team, RUN 2 EMPOWER. Vin & Kim totally convinced me to join the team and use the stories of the many disabled athletes that Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports helps in their endeavors to enjoy the outdoors. as inspiration!
I was hooked by their enthusiasm !!
What is the Vermont 100 Endurance Race?
The VT100 is among the four oldest 100 mile races in the United States, the only remaining 100-miler that includes a concurrent horse race, and is a part of the Grand Slam of Ultrarunning. How cool is that? I will tackle this epic ultra race as part of Team Run 2 Empower, in which all funds raised go to Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports!
What is Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports?
There are people out there for whom just getting out to walk can be a challenge. People who need a little extra assistance to meet the challenge that brings health, fun and passion to their lives. Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports provides sports and recreational programs as well as wellness and environmental retreats to people with disabilities.
Their programs are offered to people of all ages, with a variety of disabilities. Programs include skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and Nordic in the winter; and sailing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, cycling, rock climbing, horseback riding, and more in the warmer months.
Why Vermont Adaptive?
The mission of Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports is inspiring because it helps others enjoy the same health, fun, and passions that have been such an integral part of my life. I've always been a reluctant fundraiser, but this cause struck a cord with me. To be able to help people enjoy the outdoors in a way that I take for granted.
Please consider donating what you can to help me reach my goal and help Vermont Adaptive meet their goal too!
Thank you! Sledawg
