This year, I'm joining friends and family as we bike through the Pioneer Valley to raise money for Bikes Fight Cancer. Every dollar raised goes directly toward cancer care services for patients, families, and caregivers, and toward funding hospitals committed to advancing cancer research.
I'm deeply grateful to everyone who has supported my fundraising rides in the past. Your generosity has made a real difference, and because of that, I hope you'll consider riding alongside me again, in spirit, if not in the saddle.
I ride in memory of my aunt, Diane Szych, whom we lost to lung cancer in 2023, and my father-in-law, Tom Johnson, whom we lost to colon cancer more than 30 years ago. Their lives, their love, and their strength continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know them.
I also ride in honor of my mother-in-law, Helen Johnson, and dear friend, Mikala Hammonds, who are courageously facing their own cancer diagnosis. Watching them meet this journey with grace and resilience has only deepened my commitment to this cause. And as I prepare for ride day, I carry with me the many family members, friends, and neighbors who are navigating cancer right now and those whose memories continue to move us forward.
Over the years, we've witnessed remarkable progress in cancer detection, treatment, and survival, progress made possible because people like you chose to invest in research and patient care. There is still much work ahead, but every step forward matters. Every breakthrough matters. Every patient who gains more time, more options, and more hope matters.
On ride day, as I pedal through the Pioneer Valley, I'll be thinking of Diane, Tom, Helen, Mikala, and the countless others whose lives have been touched by cancer. I'll also be thinking of the generous community of supporters who make this work possible, year after year.
If you're able to contribute, I would be truly grateful. No gift is too small — every donation helps bring hope, care, and progress to those who need it most.
Thank you for considering a gift. And thank you for helping keep the wheels turning in the fight against cancer.
LOVE BIKES. HATE CANCER.
