I’m riding this year in honor of one of my oldest and dearest friends, Vicki, along with her husband, Eric, and their sweet daughter, Emaline. Emaline was kind enough to draw a photo of the family for me on their dream vacation (they need one!), but the palm tree got cut off. And, yes, there's a dog named Goochi! Vicki was diagnosed with colon cancer a little over a year and a half ago, during a time when many young people in their 30s and 40s were facing similar diagnoses. And because cancer impacts the entire family, I wanted to honor them all.
Vicki is a patient at the Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute and is part of a study working to better understand why so many young people are being diagnosed. My own father was also diagnosed with colon cancer at a young age.
While her care team is based in Boston, she is often able to receive some care locally at Cooley Dickinson, allowing her to avoid some trips to Boston and spend more time with her family.
I ride in honor of her family, for their future, and for all the families facing this terrible disease.
If you’re able, please consider donating to support Team Cooley. Every contribution helps support patient care and families navigating unimaginable challenges, like Vicki.
Thank you for your support, encouragement, and love.
I love you all!
Jenny
P.S. As an added bonus, anyone who supports my campaign will get a picture made by Emmy of your favorite animal or pet!
