27 Miles, Four Years After the Crash That Almost Kept Me Off a Bike for Good
In April 2022, I was in a bike accident that cracked my frame in two places and my helmet in three. I ended up in the hospital with head trauma and a bad concussion. I'm incredibly lucky it wasn't worse.
It's taken years to feel ready to ride again for real. I've been training on a spin bike, but pavement, traffic, and actual risk still make me nervous. That's exactly why I signed up for the Valley Veterans Ride's 27-mile route on September 12 - to push through that fear instead of avoiding it.
My goal is to raise $5,000 for Boulder Crest's mission. If you're able to chip in, I'd be so grateful. If not, a word of encouragement on ride day would mean a lot.
Thank you for riding alongside me, even from a distance.
