As some of you are aware from my post of Facebook, this upcoming weekend I’m riding in The Tour of Litchfield Hills, a charity bike tour up in Northwestern Connecticut.
The Tour benefits The Cancer Care Fund of Litchfield Hills, which was created to support cancer patients with care, treatment, education and prevention programs.
As you are all aware, last summer, my family’s lives were completely turned upside down when our patriarch was diagnosed with cancer and later was reunited with our mother at the Pearly Gates of Heaven.
This brings me to the reason for biking all the way up in Northwestern Connecticut, my father’s best friend Dan is one of the main organizers for this Tour. My father would go up every year to assist his best friend by simply volunteering at a water station. It was always one of his favorite times of summer.
This year is particularly significant because the tour takes place on August 2nd, which would have been my father’s 67th birthday.
My brother has already done an amazing job fundraising, but as we are all well aware every single dollar is incredibly important when it comes to helping families dealing with this horrible disease.
Which is why I am asking for donations for my fundraising campaign, while I’m not seeking to match the amount my brother has already raised, I would just like to make my own tiny little impact on this charity.
The 13th annual Tour of the Litchfield Hills will be held on Sunday, August 7th. The Tour benefits The Cancer Care Fund of the Litchfield Hills, Inc. There are rides of 12 miles, 30 miles, 55 miles, 75 miles and 100 miles. All of the rides are on the scenic, though hilly, roads of Litchfield County.
