The Boys and Girls Country Pedal for a Purpose is just around the corner on Saturday, March 3, and you’re invited to be a part of this awesome event! Last year, the event brought over 500 riders to Hockley to raise vital funds for the children who rely on Boys and Girls Country for hope, love, safety, and the daily provision of their needs.
The mission of Boys and Girls Country of Houston, Inc. (BGC) is to change the lives of children from families in crisis by loving and nurturing them in a Christian home environment, raising them to become self-sustaining and contributing adults. Our vision is that every child has a place to grow up and a sense of being home.
Children need love and nurturing to thrive, and they need food, clothing, shelter, healthcare and education to grow up and become contributing adults. Of the children living on BGC’s campus, 73 percent come from families living in poverty. In addition, many of the children who come to Boys and Girls Country have undergone personal crises. Forty three percent came from single parent homes, and 31 percent lived with grandparents or other relatives. All come from homes where life circumstances make it nearly impossible for them to have a good start in life.
