About the Center
The Amherst Survival Center, serving Western Massachusetts since 1976, addresses the social determinants of health by providing our neighbors with an array of basic needs services and a community where people support each other. Our mission is to connect Hampshire and Franklin County residents with food, clothing, healthcare, and community, primarily through volunteer efforts.
Core services include free meals, groceries, clothing and housewares, and a free health clinic, as well as numerus other community resources, activities, and extensive volunteer program, all under one roof. Since COVID took hold locally, we have focused on our food and nutrition programs, scaling to meet increasing need. We are offering free hot meals and produce daily, and groceries on a monthly basis (about 11 days' worth of food), available via onsite low-contact pick-up, no-contact curbside pick-up, and no-contact delivery.
