Through fundraising spearheaded by Chinese Community United Methodist Church in Oakland (CCUMC), in 2014, a brand new Primary School was opened in the rural area of Kumi, Uganda. It serves village children from pre-primary through 7th grade. Every year since then, cyclists and hikers have partnered to raise monies that have built dormitories, bathing rooms, a water system, fencing, and an athletic field on the school compound.
Over the past 2 years, our Annual Kumi Benefit Ride/Hike has gradually raised funds to build a much-needed PreSchool at Kumi Christian Visionary School. Although students are already using the partially-finished structure, $20,000 is needed to finish the building. We have already secured $10,000 in matching funds, so our goal for this year is $10,000. We'e almost there!
In addition to your generous donation, you are invited to participate in the April 30th event, either in-person or remotely (www.runreg.com/kumi-benefit-walk). Thank you for giving vulnerable and underserved children a chance to get a decent education in Kumi!
