You all know how passionate I am about running and being outdoors whether it's hiking, swimming, running, snowshoeing, and once upon a time, skiing and mountain biking! Vermont Adaptive allows everyone the chance to experience and appreciate the outdoors no matter the abililty. That is why I am excited to announce that I am part of the 2021 Team Run 2 Empower for the Vermont 100 Endurance Race and to fundraise for Vermont Adaptive so that others can live life to the fullest and that everyone can be CHASING BADASS!!!!
Family and friends often ask me "what are you training for?" To which, I usually laugh and respond, "I'm training for life." Well, that answer was certainly accurate in 2020. Anyone who has run 100 miles can tell you that you need to be prepared for everything and anything. You need to have a Plan A, Plan B, Plan C and sometimes Plan WTF. Well, guess what plan was executed in 2020? This ultra mindset is valuable not only in endurance events but life too.
And so I will continue to train for life and to train for pushing my body and mind through the journey of 100 miles. Universe willing, I'll be toeing the line for the 4th time (would have been 5th) at the VT100.
Competing in the VT 100 is a challenge that I look forward to meeting this summer. While I have spent hours, days, months and even years training for this event, it is something that I have been passionate about. There are people out there for whom just getting out to walk can be a challenge. People who need a little extra assistance to meet the challenge that brings health, fun and passion to their lives. Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports provides sports and recreational programs as well as wellness and environmental retreats to people with disabilities. Their programs are offered to people of all ages, with a variety of disabilities. Programs include skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and Nordic in the winter; and sailing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, cycling, rock climbing, horseback riding, and more in the warmer months.
Please consider donating what you can to help me reach my goal and help Vermont Adaptive meet their goal too!
