Hi friends,
Thank you for supporting the CCAP, which helps youth get onto bikes and gives them a lifetime of opportunities to enjoy riding and sharing their love for cycling. I know my boys have greatly benefited from all that they learned on their CCAP teams and we want the kids of CT to continue to enjoy the great community CCAP has built for generations to come.
I was one of the original CCAP coaches and my boys have had the opportunity to race road, cyclocross and mountain bikes because of this great organization. They even went to CCAP mountain bike summer camp! But most of all they love it because of the friendships they have made and the barbeques they've had after mountain bike practices. Now they can drive to practice on their own but they always ride with friends they've met through CCAP. During COVID the kids were able to build jumps and get outside when their was no school and they just needed dirt and bikes to connect to their friends. Now they get to ride together again and there are hundreds of kids all over CT outside riding and racing because of the hard work CCAP puts in for kids to get onto bikes!

The CCAP Breakaway Benefit Cycling Festival

The CCAP Breakaway Benefit Cycling Festival is a fundraising event for youth cycling programs in Connecticut's schools and towns. Your participation starts more youth teams, empowers more coaches to lead, and gets more kids on bikes! THANK YOU!

Breakaway Benefit Experiences
- Mountain Bike and Road Rides for ALL: Enjoy Connecticut's most beautiful and scenic roads during fully supported rides of different lengths. Our Road Sampler is perfect for a beginner to novice rider and is fully-marked so no need for a navigation device if you don't have one. The Big Scoop offers fun for riders of all abilities but is a bit longer - ride at your own pace or have fun with the optional Strava segments! Mountain bikers, or those who want to get lost (metaphorically) in the woods, will have unlimited access to over 12 miles of groomed trails. We will suggest routes and will have optional Strava segments but you are also free to roam!
- Festival: This isn't just a ride! We'll have a team tent zone, kids games, product vendors, and more bike-focused fun to keep you entertained throughout the day. CCAP staff, along with DJ Bott, will be on-hand to lead the fun!
- Delicious Food and Drink: Riders are welcome to enjoy a light, pre-ride breakfast and will return to our catered picnic lunch to celebrate their riding, and fundraising, accomplishments. Stick around for awards and fun - including our popular raffle - kicking kick off at 1:00 pm!
- Route files coming soon to those who sign up!
- Strava Segments: We whipped up some great routes, along with a few challenging Strava segments, for you to enjoy. We're keeping track and might award prizes for those who register for the ride and our Strava club (Click here).

The Connecticut Cycling Advancement Program's mission is to ensure that Connecticut's youth and their families have access and exposure to an organized state-wide youth cycling league. Additionally, youth and their parents should be able to see a clear avenue that allows them to develop as far as their ambition, skills, and abilities can take them. The sport of cycling teaches a child or young adult a wealth of values, social skills, and mindsets that help them become successful in every aspect of their life, and the CCAP is proud to provide kids across the state with the opportunity to participate in a safe and positive team-based environment.
Recognized nationally for its impact and leadership, the CCAP partners with communities and schools to grow youth cycling throughout Connecticut. More than 55 Connecticut school districts and towns have created CCAP-registered cycling programs or are in the process of establishing cycling clubs and teams. over 550 youth participate in these programs. In addition, 40 CCAP youth-specific events were held in 2019. With your help, the CCAP is just getting started!
