Hello friends and family!
This summer's challenge is running the Vermont 100 mile Endurance Race and fundraising for Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports!
I signed up for the 100 miler in early 2025, but it just wasn't my year. My body was struggling with some "left over" effects of cancer treatment and sideline me from be able to train appropriately for a race of this magnitude. I am currently cancer free (yah!) and working on staying active and engaged. The VT 100 Mile has been on my radar for years after completing the 100k in 2018. In 2024 I was fortunate enough to volunteer overnight at the finish line and seeing the racers run through the finish line is an amazing experience and solidified my commitment to starting (and finishing). Looking out the window with the current bitter cold is not the best motivator, but when July comes around and it's a thousand degrees and 100% humid, I'll channel the cold from winter.
Choosing to fundraise for VT Adaptive this year is personal. I have a shoulder injury from cancer that requires lifestyle modifications in my everyday life. I am lucky that I get to still do most of the activities I love. However, many athletes could not do what they love without organizations like VT Adaptive helping reach goals that might have been unreachable. From winter sports like skiing, snowshoeing to warmer months kayaking, climbing, running, biking - VT Adaptive has the staff and tremendous volunteers to make dreams come true. None of this can happen without financial support. I'm committed to raising a minimum of $2,000 but would like to surpass that number!
Please consider donating what you can to help reach my goal and help Vermont Adaptive meet their goal. Help Team2Empower (the team I'm running with!) reach an amazing fundraising year.
Thank you!
Jessie
