dWelcome to my Seacoast Cancer 5k Walk/Run fundraising page!
On September 27th I’ll be participating in a 5k road race benefiting Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. I will be walking for all the people I know who have suffered from this disease, my aunt Nancy who lost her battle 8 years ago and especially for to amazing children in our lives. Jons cousins son Connor who is currently in icu after 2 rounds of chemo to fight Wilms tumors at a mere age of 7 and also for our "Maya Strong", our 13 month old baby girl who was diagnosed at 8 months with adrenal cortical carcinoma. Life changes in an instance. She underwent an radical dissection of the " grapefruit" sized mass along with her left adrenal and kidney. God willing, we had a surgeon that removed the tumor intact but Maya had many complications along the way. She is still on her road to recovery. She has a feeding tube and is on an array of meds and considered "medically fragile" Shr will continue to have scans, appointments , here and in Boston weekly. We are extremely lucky but her road has not come to an end or ours as a family. It is financially taxing so I am counting on your donation to help me reach my personal goal. Although these donations don't go exactly to Maya they go to benefit families like ours and thisviscextremely important to us. Any amount helps, really. Proceeds from the Seacoast Cancer 5k benefit the Supportive and Wellness Services at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital’s Seacoast Cancer Center, offering patients and their families individualized guidance and support as they cope with cancer diagnoses and treatment. Programs include:
Education
Nutrition
Psychosocial screening
Rehab
Exercise
Support groups
Integrative therapies

Thank you, in advance, for your support!! I'm counting on you!
Our Hospital stands on the foundation of Arioch Wentworth's legacy, but the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital of the early 21st century is vastly different from the small Hospital that opened its doors in 1906. Ongoing philanthropy is an essential predicate for progress and growth. With the fierce challenges of operating a successful contemporary healthcare organization the need for broad gift support is greater than ever.
Wentworth-Douglass Hospital's ability to earn and receive generous donations will make us stronger and more resilient than those lacking such a base of support. These gifts will spell the difference between mediocrity and excellence, between adequate facilities and exceptional facilities, between heavy reliance on distant institutions for specialized care and the availability of a full range of services close to our own homes and families. No other gifts will pay such vital, sustained, and universal dividends for the people of the Seacoast region. You and your family can make the difference in assuring this remarkable resource abides for our own time and for the generations to follow.
