Through fundraising spearheaded by Chinese Community United Methodist Church (Oakland, CA) in 2014, a brand new school was opened in the rural area of Kumi, Uganda. It serves village children from ages 3 up through Primary School age. Every year since then, cyclists and hikers have partnered to raise monies that have built dormitories, bathing rooms, a water system, fencing, and an athletic field on the school compound.
Since COVID, our Annual Kumi Benefit Ride/Hike raised funds to build a separate Preschool facility at Kumi Christian Visionary School. This year, we aim to raise $30,000 to add a toilet block next to the Preschool.
In addition to your generous donation, you are invited to participate in-person at our April 20th event (www.runreg.com/2024-kumi-benefit-ride-hike). Thank you for giving vulnerable and underserved children a chance to get a decent education in Kumi!
