Hi! Thanks for visiting my Hungry Lion Bike Tour fundraising page. On September 24, 2022 I will be (riding my bicycle/walking) in the SaltRiver area of Arizona as a "virtual" biker for this event in the Green Mountains of Vermont and Berkshires of Massachusetts. While doing something that I enjoy immensely, I will also be helping the Deerfield Valley Lions to serve their community in a significant way.
The primary purpose of this event is to fight hunger in southern Vermont. Every December the Lions team up with the local Rotary Club to hand deliver and fill the cupboards for hundreds of people in the Deerfield Valley of Southern Vermont with nutritious food staples. In recent years HLBT has also generated enough funds to write generous checks to the local food bank as well.
I also do this ride in remembrance of my wonderful father-in-law Alan Stewart. Alan gave all of his heart to this event and the causes of increasing food security for all people when he was alive. In memory of Alan and for this important work, I'm riding my bike from here in Arizona every day for the next 6 days as a 'virtual' part of the team and I'll do 35 miles on 09/24/22.

Hungry Lion Bike Tour
A benefit ride for the Hunger Relief Program that is spearheaded by the Deerfield Valley Lions. There will be 10,35, 55 and 75 mile tours. Participants are encouraged to solicit sponsorships and prizes will be awarded. Those who raise a modest amount are awarded a custom pro cycling garment.

Each year, our local LIONS CLUB works hard to raise funds for our neighbors in need by sponsoring The Hungry Lion Bike Tour , one of Southern Vermont’s premier cycling events, typically attracting hundreds of riders, friends and family members to our region. We are able to run this professional-caliber event thanks to dedicated volunteers AND the enthusiastic contributions from participants and their sponsors! Our 2022 Event will be held in person with a Virtual Option for those not able to attend in person. We've also added an option for folks who would like to walk/hike!
How do Lions help our community?

- We provide FREE vision testing to ALL local school children

- We partner with Rotary and other service clubs to help with important community projects
